Rocky Mountain National Park is simply one of the best summer vacation travel destinations available. Longs Peak reaches 14, 255 feet as other amazing peaks round out a panoramic view that will never fit into a camera. Park passes are not expensive and give you access to trails, wildlife viewing, a scenic drive that loops over the top of the mountains (Trail Ridge Road), and the ability to walk along the most tranquil mountain scenes you can imagine. You have the option of camping in the park or staying in the restaurant, shopping and hotel filled city of Estes Park.
A favorite hike is the Bear Lake trail on the southeast side of the park. It wraps around a few scenic bends along a series of small mountain lakes filled with trout advancing all the way to the higher elevations. There are ample amounts of huge elk and other wildlife to see along the hiking trails. Drink plenty of water and take it easy the first day to allow your body to acclimate to the elevation. We're looking for extended stay discounts in Estes Park and would appreciate any hotel recommendations or reviews you could pass along.
